Modular Bottle Setup: Glass 500ml vs 700ml, Sleeves & Modules

TMB - Pro Grey

TMB - Modular Bottle

What the TMB | The Modular Bottle – TMB ModularBottle system actually is

Most bottles lock you into one shape forever. You buy it, you live with it. The TMB - Modular Bottle works the other way around: the body is the base, and everything above or around it can be swapped. There are three body families — Pro, Ultra, and Lifestyle — plus two glass versions, Glass 500ml and Glass 700ml. Same thread, same caps, same add-ons.

That last part matters more than the marketing copy suggests. If you already own a Tall Module and later pick up a second body in a different colour, the module still fits. Nothing becomes dead weight.

Glass 500ml or Glass 700ml: pick by your day, not by the spec sheet

I keep both. Not because I collect them — because they solve different problems.

Glass 500ml is the one that leaves the house with me. It fits a bike cage, a small backpack side pocket, and the cup holder in a compact car. Five hundred millilitres is roughly two decent coffees or one long meeting's worth of water.

Glass 700ml stays on the desk. If you drink two litres a day and hate refilling, the extra 200ml cuts your trips to the tap noticeably. It's also the better pick for a commute where you're on a train for 40 minutes and don't want to think about water again until lunch.

Quick rule I use: 500ml for movement, 700ml for sitting still. If you're between the two, go bigger — a half-empty large bottle weighs less than two full small ones.

The add-ons that actually change how you use the bottle

Insulation Sleeve

Glass conducts heat fast. Cold water in a warm room turns lukewarm in about an hour without help. The Insulation Sleeve slows that down and, honestly, does just as much for grip — condensation on the outside of a glass bottle is real, and the sleeve stops it from soaking whatever it's sitting on.

Tall Module

The Tall Module extends the stack. If you're doing a long hike or a full workday away from a refill point, this is the piece that adds capacity without forcing you to carry a second bottle. Screw it on, fill, done.

Tea & Fruit Infuser

This is the one people underestimate. Drop lemon slices, mint, or loose-leaf tea into the Tea & Fruit Infuser and the water actually tastes like something by mid-morning. Cold-brewing tea overnight in the 700ml is a habit I picked up in summer and never dropped.

Glass Cups

Two people, one bottle. The Glass Cups turn the whole setup into something you can pour from at a table instead of passing the bottle around. Small thing, but it changes how the bottle gets used when guests are over.

Colours and finishes

The finish decides how the bottle ages in your bag. Matte picks up scuffs more visibly; gloss wipes clean faster.

  • TMB - Space Blue — deep, reads almost navy indoors.
  • TMB - Dark Grey — the safe one. Hides scratches.
  • TMB - Ultra White — bright, and the sleeve contrast looks sharp against it.
  • TMB - Pro Grey — the neutral workhorse if you're buying one and only one.

There's also a TMB - Modular Bottle Secret Sale listing if you want to start with a body and add modules later. That's usually the smarter order anyway — figure out your size first, then spend on the extras you'll genuinely use.

CouchConsole - TMB edition and the living-room setup

The CouchConsole - TMB edition is the piece that makes the whole system make sense at home. Bottle in the holder, phone in the slot, snack bowl on the side. No more balancing a glass bottle on a cushion and hoping. If your bottle lives on the coffee table more than in a backpack, this is the add-on to buy before any of the others.

Start with the size, then the sleeve, then whatever your routine is missing. Mine went 500ml, sleeve, infuser — in that order, over about four months.
